Potassium iodide
Potassium iodide 2% (INT OPO) is an eye medication in the form of a solution intended for instillation into the eye.
The active ingredient potassium iodide (and sometimes sodium iodide) acts on the absorption of exudates from the area of inflammation and contributes to the reduction of bleeding in the eye. The solution is also used in cases of degenerative changes in the vascular layer of the eye (e.g., in diseases of the retina, choroid) and as an adjunctive treatment for scleritis or fungal diseases of the conjunctiva or cornea.
It is intended for adults, elderly patients, and children (as determined by a physician). It is not suitable for newborns and is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
